Application, admission and prices
Here you will find the price list for the various lines and the study trip to Nepal.
Some of the elective subjects have a small additional fee, otherwise the prices cover the necessary expenses in the school year.
Expenses for food on study trips are not included and must be covered by the individual student on the trip (pocket money).
Prices have been adjusted and apply to the school year 2025-26.
How to apply
- You send us an application by filling out the application form that you can find here.
- When we have received your application, you will receive a confirmation from us via SMS.
- Applications are received continuously and you will hear from us via SMS and e-mail.
- If you are offered a place, you must confirm that you accept the place by paying an enrollment fee of NOK 2,600 within the deadline of 10 days from when the offer is sent. (non-refundable registration fee)
Admission criteria
The school has an 18-year age limit; you must have turned 18 during the autumn semester. We assess all applicants who meet the age requirement. It is important that you write in detail about yourself in the application. If you have experience from voluntary organizations, it is good if you include something about this (e.g. sports, culture, politics). Also write something about why you are applying and what thoughts you have about the school year.

A completed year at a folk high school gives you two additional points when applying to universities and colleges.

The school has a few single rooms that you can apply to reserve if you have medical or other weighty reasons for having to live alone. This costs a little extra.

Scholarships and loans
You can apply for scholarships and loans from the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund. For the school year 2025-2026, you can receive up to NOK 151,690 from Lånekassen. 60% of the sum is a loan and 40% (NOK 60,676) is converted into a scholarship upon completion of the school year.

Non-refundable registration fee paid after admission.
Total costs
The total cost covers everything you need as a student at the school, apart from pocket money for study trips, necessary visas and vaccines.
Reservations are made that price adjustments on the trips are based on today’s prices (spring 2025). Study trips are carried out in autumn 2025 / spring 2026, and it is therefore difficult to determine exact prices. Prices may therefore be changed if there are changes in exchange rates, airfares or other costs associated with the trip.
Other
Insurance
The school has a homeowner’s insurance that covers the school’s assets. You must insure your own belongings yourself. The same applies to personal insurance in the event of damage/accident.
Students must ensure that they have valid full-year travel insurance, and the school must have documentation of this before the trips are taken.
For students, parents’ home insurance often also applies when the student is away at school. Students over 20 years of age can take out their own student insurance. We encourage you to investigate this with your own and your parents’ insurance company.
Special dietary needs
Students who receive public support for diet pay 80% of the daily rate to cover the school’s extra expenses.
Interruption
If you interrupt the school year, or are expelled from the school, you must pay accommodation and living expenses for 6 weeks from the end date; i.e. NOK 17,000. This also applies if you give up your place at the school after 31 July.
